BI.ZONE Secure SD-WAN update delivers network scalability and security improvements

BI.ZONE Secure SD-WAN is a Russian platform for building a secure network infrastructure between geographically distributed branches. Changes in version 1.4.0 simplify routine processes and network scaling, improve security, and expand the model range of equipment compatible with the platform

To reduce user costs associated with recurring tasks, BI.ZONE Secure SD‑WAN 1.4.0 offers improved automation scenarios. Managing security policies has become more convenient as the user can now create templates for firewall settings and group them. The user can manage rules either in all the firewalls at once—by using a single template—or address each firewall individually. Another functionality enables automatic change of TLS and WireGuard keys. These innovations help companies save resources, optimize costs, and minimize routine operations.

SD‑WAN devices can be reconfigured even when turned off. In this case, the new configuration is automatically synchronized with the controller when the devices are turned back on again. In version 1.4.0, a similar paradigm has been applied to security functions: now the configuration of firewalls and subsequent VNFs is guaranteed to be delivered as soon as network connectivity is restored.

BI.ZONE Secure SD‑WAN 1.4.0 supports a wider range of BI.ZONE CyberEdge network servers. It is now compatible with entry‑level CyberEdge models: 50D‑4T, 20N‑3T, and 10B‑5T. The platform also supports two LTE connections on CyberEdge devices.

The more devices are in the network, the less resistant it becomes to failures and the higher the risk of human error. To reduce the number of such errors, BI.ZONE Secure SD‑WAN 1.4.0 comes with additional checks and alerts about attempted risky actions.

In addition to the planned functionality updates, version 1.4.0 contains features that will benefit existing BI.ZONE SD‑WAN clients. Among these features are port forwarding on WAN interfaces, support for additional DHCP options, MAC address binding, and support for more BGP attributes.

To ease the use of Remote Access VPN, BI.ZONE Secure SD‑WAN 1.4.0 offers a split tunneling mode. It enables the user to choose which applications will be protected by VPN and which will connect to the Internet directly. The split tunneling option can also speed up access to local services and reduce the load on the VPN server.

Due to the step‑by‑step configuration utility, the time to create a new instance of the centralized part of the platform has been reduced to 30 minutes. This operation can be performed even by specialists with no previous BI.ZONE Secure SD‑WAN experience.
